FRANKLIN – The sagging downtown Franklin economy is about to get a rise this weekend, when Molly Sindee opens the doors to Dixx Pixx Photography.
“I’m so excited I can hardly stand it,” said Sindee. “Who would have thought I would have gone from taking pictures of my boyfriend’s junk for fun to having men pay me for the privilege?”
Dixx Pixx Photography specializes in the male anatomy, offering a variety of poses, situations, and backgrounds. “I got tired of women always being front and center,” said Sindee. “Me and my girlfriends always complained about the woman always losing her dignity in movies, but the man never has to show himself. I just want to give the women what they want.”
“We’re real excited to have something the whole community can really get their hands on,” downtown director Jimmy Johnson said. “I’ve heard good things, people just could not stop talking about it at the fair this weekend, and it’s a nice anniversary type present for the Mrs. It’s nice to give her diamond earrings, but to give her the family jewels frozen in time, well that’s something you can’t put a price on.”
Years in the making, Dixx Pixx’s humble origins began in Sindee’s one room apartment after a night of drinking Zima with her then boyfriend, Richard Cox. After a terrible breakup, Sindee sent Cox’s photographs to all of his gmail contacts. “It was crazy,” said Sindee. “People said I had lost my mind, but a few were like, damn girl, that’s some good lighting you used there, or how did you get all the wrinkles out? That’s some talent.”
“That bitch,” said Cox.
“It was in ’07 or ’08, you know, when the economy had really crashed around here, and I was looking to make the ends meet anyway I could,” said Sindee. “So I took stock of what I had, a nice futon, a mid-range camera, and a love of photographing men’s genitals and put them to use. Next thing I knew, I had clients of all shapes and sizes showing up at my door.”
Her work has drawn rave reviews among her peers. This summer she submitted some of her work to website Dixx Pixx Critique, with noted penile photographer assessor, Wanda Stiffenshaff declaring her work:

Sindee says Dixx Pixx will offer a wide variety of packages, ranging from the classier Elegant Package, which really ties in the natural brilliance of the subject using natural lighting and a special filter, to a Facebook friendly package. “Everyone wants to put everything on facebook these days, so I’m flexible. One of my go to things is using playful clip-art over the racier bits. So far I’ve used a banana split emoticon, the Hardee’s star who I have a deal with to put in some of my photos as part of their 100% natural all natural Angus beef burger promotion, or the usual black rectangle. I will say for an extra fee, I will make the rectangle larger than it needs to be. It’ll be our little secret.”
