COURTLAND—The first stop on Gerald Lamborghini’s road trip was the Franklin-Southampton County Fair to see his 36th Hailey Hymens concert this year.
The 49-year-old from Fairfax planned to make it to Hymens’ concert in Troy, Ohio, on Saturday and continue on to Norwalk, Ohio, for the teeny bopper’s Monday show. Four more stops follow, including Iowa.
“She’s awesome, and every show is different,” Lamborghini said. “She’s better live than on her video I watch every night before bed.” Known as a younger, more provocative Miley Cyrus of country music, Hymens drew a suprisingly mature and somewhat creepy crowd to the Fair show. Some reportedly came from out of state, likely violating their terms of parole and arriving 12 hours before the show, Fair officials said. |

Named the 2012 Teen Choice Female Country Artist for her one big hit, “Statutory Love,” Hymens was the reason Carl Strange came to Courtland from his home in Northern Virginia. The 36-year-old planted himself against the front of the Main Stage five hours before the show. It was his fourth time to see Hymens.
“The Devil makes me do it,” said Strange, taking the quote from one of Hymens’ songs. “The view from the front row is intoxicating everytime!”
Strange made a pink sign for the 13-year-old Hymens and decorated it with unicorns, ice cream cones, and lots of glitter. “I hope she sees it,” said Strange. “There’s so many things I’d like to talk to her about.” Strange paid $600 to win a date with Hymens in Richmond and plans to spend another $800 to date her again at a concert in Baltimore on September 7.
“She’s such a beautiful person inside and out,” Strange said. “She’s definitely DTF.”
Tyler Gatling drove six hours from South Jersey and registered his sex offender status, before entering the gates to see Hymens for his 20th time in one year. The 40-year-old has gone as far as Indiana for her shows.
Hugh Richard of Boykins was joined at the concert by his former Greensville Correctional cellmate Jeff Wood. The 47-year-olds were at the fairgrounds five hours before the concert and were treated to a warm-up by Hymens. “We love Hailey Hymens!” Richard said. “We had her poster hung in our cell since she was 9.”
